About Us

Introduction to the British SEND Foundation (BSF)

The British SEND Foundation (BSF) is a pioneering, community-driven organization dedicated to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families across the UK. BSF is founded on the principles of equity, inclusion, and innovation, ensuring that children with SEND receive the resources, education, and support they need to thrive in all aspects of life.

BSF goes beyond traditional SEND support models by integrating education, employment, and wellbeing services into a holistic framework that empowers children and families. It particularly focuses on families from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, who often face additional barriers in accessing appropriate support.

What Makes BSF Different from Existing Organizations?

While many organizations provide SEND support, BSF sets itself apart through its:

Holistic, Lifelong Approach – Unlike traditional SEND support groups that focus only on education or health, BSF connects education, employment, wellbeing, and long-term life opportunities to create a continuous support system for children and young people.

Culturally Tailored Support – Many BAME families struggle with cultural stigmas, language barriers, and lack of trust in formal institutions. BSF bridges this gap by offering culturally relevant interventions, multilingual support, and community-driven advocacy.

Mission

The British SEND Foundation (BSF) is committed to transforming the lives of SEND children and their families through Advocating for equitable access to education, employment, and leadership opportunities.

Vision

A society where children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are empowered, valued, and fully included in all aspects of life—education, employment, leadership, and community engagement—without barriers or discrimination.

“BSF changed our lives. Before we found them, we felt isolated and overwhelmed by our son’s autism diagnosis. They offered us clear information, emotional support, and helped us navigate the EHCP process. For the first time, we felt heard and understood.”
Amina M, Parent of a child with autism
“Working alongside the British SEND Foundation has transformed how we support SEND pupils in our school. Their training on inclusive education and cultural awareness gave us the tools to truly listen to families and adapt our approach.”
Mr. Richard
“Because of BSF, I now have the confidence to speak up about my needs at school. They taught me that having a learning difference doesn’t mean I’m less—it means I learn differently, and that’s okay. I feel proud, capable, and ready to succeed.”
Lana, 15, with dyslexia
